A group of leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which includes bodies of people of Esa Oke in Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State, have decamped to Accord Party, announcing their support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke later this August.
Others are Oni Olayinka, former Ward 07 councillor; Ogunsakin Bukola, a former ward representative to federal lawmaker Wole Oke; Seyi Omojowogbe; Ajiboye Adegbite, former ward representative on non-indigene affairs; Oluwasesan Sunday and Akogun Tayo.
The defectors were presented on behalf of the governor by his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye who attributed their decision to Adeleke's numerous achievements, inclusive leadership and people-driven governance.
They promised to remain loyal to Accord Party and said they would help in organising grassroot people for Adeleke’s second term.
Reacting to the development, a lawyer and the convener of Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, a support movement championing Adeleke’s re-election described it as APC kicking against the pricks while asserting that the political wind is blowing towards greater political hegemony for Adeleke in Obokun Local Government Area.
While revealing that the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji was cheaper and easier to defeat after this appointment of Wole Oke as the campaign director general by the party.
In a related development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday rescheduled the Osun governorship poll by one week — from August 8, to August 15,2026.
APC’s Bola Oyebamiji is one of the candidates in the poll against Governor Adeleke of Accord Party who is seeking re-election. Adeleke defected to the PDP from Accorbd Party in December 2025 and he became the standard flag bearer of his party.
