You Lack The Constitutional Power To Determine Motor Parks Management System Activities - Osun APC Blasts OSHA

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pointedly told the state House of Assembly that its recently passed Bill on Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management System is dead on arrival as the state lacks the constitutional authority to dabble into the regulation and management of motor parks across the state. The state lawmaking Assembly rolled out a story on Wednesday purporting that the bill sponsored by the chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, was seeking to establish an integrated system for the registration, regulation, management and digital administration of commercial transport, traffic, motor parks, terminals, garages, loading points and related infrastructure. The bill also went further, among other things, to state that it is meant to introduce digitalised ticketing system designed to eliminate multiple ticketing in motor parks across the state with a view to reducing financial burden on transport operators, improve transpa...

Your Allegation That We Are Planning To Promote Violent Takeover Of Motor Parks With NURTW Is Ill-conceived, False, Fabricated

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Accord of chasing shadows over the issue of the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state. It would be recalled that the Osun State Accord chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, in a statement issued on Sunday accused the state chapter of the APC, working in connivance with the national President of the NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya popularly called (M. C. Oluomo), of plotting a violent takeover of motor parks in the state. The Accord specifically mentioned  Oluomo as 'the mastermind of the violent plot using his surrogate, Alhaji Kazeem Oyewale popularly called (Asiri Eniba) and certain disgruntled elements within the state APC'. It was quite unfortunate that the party which its governorship candidate had just won his re-election could be so manifestly bereft of the understanding of the working of the state government with special reference to the control of th...

President Tinubu Gives an Update on The National Affordable CNG Transit Programme

On August 27, I met with the governors of our 36 states, and we agreed on a clear objective. From October 1, more Nigerians should begin to see measurable reductions in transportation costs. We subsequently established an implementation committee for the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, chaired by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. I am aware of the considerable work already underway by the committee, PI-CNG & EV, the States, and other critical stakeholders to identify priority transport corridors, determine appropriate interventions, and put the necessary arrangements in place. This work has become even more urgent amid the current global energy crisis. We already have evidence from across Nigeria of what is possible when cheaper energy translates into cheaper transportation. In Borno, CNG-powered and electric public transport services are moving commuters for between ₦50 and ₦100 on routes where commercial operators charg...

Appointing Managers At Motor Parks Are Unlawful And Abuse Of Power - Osun Apc Faults Adeleke

Following the killing of an Accord hit squad leader, Olalekan Oyeyemi popularly known as 'Emir' or 'Ajagungbade', an appointee of the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a violent power struggle between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) in Ile-Ife on Sunday, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has faulted the governor over his directive to immediately transit to a state-run Park Management System describing it as illegal and unconstitutional. Ajagungbade, who, all along, had been on the wanted list of the police over his alleged involvement in various grievous crimes paid the supreme price in Ile-Ife yesterday during the violence that stemmed from an ongoing dispute over the control and leadership of the motor parks and garages in the state when tensions boiled over what ideally was supposed to be a scheduled peace meeting and it quickly degenerated into a chaotic situation. Apart from Emir being the...
